Sene Africa bringing the sounds of Africa to a new generation

Sene Africa will take you to new heights with their uplifting beautiful music . The inspiring voice of Ibrahima Ba along with the mystical sound of the Kora from Amadou Fall are bound to give you an experience you will never forget . Simply amazing !

Ibrahima Ba was born in 1975 in a neighborhood outside of Dakar, Senegal. His love for music began at a young age inspired by the singing, drums, and guitar rhythms of the all blind INAS orchestra. In his early teens he stole moments at night to walk by the river or sit near the ocean training the range of his voice and the finesse of his hands on homemade guitars. He performed opening acts for well-known musicians such as Baaba Maal in 1994. At the age of 19, he played percussion for the drum/dance/musical orchestra Ninki Nanka traveling to shows at Goree Island, the Cassamance, and finally Saint-Louis, where he stayed and continued to play with a subdivision of the same group.

Amadou Fall was born in 1977 in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. Born into a family of musicians his earliest memories were laced with the sounds of a unique 21 string African instrument, called Kora, filling the walls of his home. Created between the borders of Senegal and Guinea the high pitched voice of its strings sing songs that seem to have fallen from the heavens. Throughout his childhood the mystical spirit embodied in this rare instrument called to Amadou, and he began learning to play at 11 years old. At the age of 15, having honed his talents and style, he was sought after to participate in concerts and musical projects. Still in his teens he played on several international CDs with Fatou Tiam, Fatou Lawbe, and Djibi Sall.

Together they formed SENE AFRICA , an amazing combination! Learn more at: http://www.myspace.com/seneafrica

The Metro. Dublin Ireland, January 2007.

The Mysterious Chords release the single ‘Drink The Water’ this Summer and Headline Management are delighted to announce that this talented trio of folk musicians have joined their portfolio of outstanding artists.

Formed in 2002 by Pat Fagan. 2006 saw the cementing of the The Mysterious Chords lineup. Pat now feels that The Mysterious Chords are stronger, tighter and have a greater energy about them than at any time in the past.

Although The Mysterious Chords have not yet released their first album, tracks from the album have found their way onto local radio stations and the response has been exciting and positive.

There are 13 songs on the album written by Pat and he has written enough material for a second album. Pat is also a teacher and director at the Dublin School Of Guitar and studied classical guitar for many years with Ireland's leading classical guitarist John Feeley.

The influence of this style of guitar playing is obvious in the arrangement of the acoustic guitar playing in the songs.

Their songs are melodic and the vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar playing have helped to establish The Mysterious Chords as exciting live performers on the Dublin scene. The group's influences are, among others, Lennon and McCartney, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Neil Young and David Bowie to J.S. T'rese brings beauty to the pop and soul scene

T'rese is alluring...

T'rese is not merely beautiful...... she is charming!

Theresa Theophile (that's her real name!), born in Roseau Dominica, now resides in London and whilst growing up on the beautiful Island in the Caribbean she listened to the likes of Sade, Tracy Chapman, Mary J Bilge Whitney Houston, Anita Barker, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown to name a few - some of the same superstars she's been compared to.

T'rese's distinctive voice however makes her unique, something that is very uncommon in today's market. She's able to express herself without doing what everyone else is doing.

Her music unveils a wealth of talent. The labour of a genuinely multi-talented singer-songwriter and entertainer, she has already been acclaimed for her talent in the likeness of top Chart-selling artist Sade. T'rese takes us to A World of My Own, her new recording on 1Life Records - she wrote, co-wrote and co-produced the majority of the tracks.

It's soulful, uplifting and entertaining. With her smooth, silky vocals she kicks off with the infectious 'Our Love Is A Flame' and it's one of those songs that any three year old, grandma and grandpa will enjoy singing along to. There is the sexy 'You Are My Lover', a Spanish flavoured love song with an upbeat tempo. 'Crime Song' takes on social issue with hard-hitting lyrics and a poetic rap by Nomadic Poet. Another catchy number 'Do you Remember' has a banging upbeat tune with a little Latin, Caribbean & African flavour and soulful melody. T'rese demonstrates a mixture of musical influences - her natural, silky voice blends perfectly with this classic laid back Sade-like track 'You've Gotta Be Strong'.

Listen once and this track will most certainly relax every part of your body and it's turning out to be one of many favourites. Other songs on the album address the complexity of male/female relationships and in the most convincing manner. T'RESE's versatility is certified in the sensuous/soulful masterpiece blended with a touch of lovers rock 'That's the Way My Lovin' Goes'.

This new artist certainly has staying power. We believe T'rese is very special - to book her please contact astrid@headlinemanagement.co.uk

Press Release: Valentine’s tribute to Elvis at The Academy Basingstoke

Valentine’s tribute to Elvis at The Academy Basingstoke

Back by popular demand, Saturday 16th February sees internationally-acclaimed US Elvis tribute artist JACK SMINK, perform live on stage at The Academy in Worting Road, Basingstoke following a successful appearance last year.

Acknowledged as one of the State’s leading Elvis performers, Jack is clear that he does not wish to be recognised as an Elvis look-alike. "Jack explains: I want everyone to know, I am not trying to be Elvis. Every song that I sing and everything I do is a tribute to his memory and his music."
Jack performs right across the US including appearances at Florida’s Disneyworld and is in the UK for a week’s tour of venues over the Valentine’s period to publicise his new release “Just One More Time”.

The song came from a dream that stayed with Jack for many years. “I dreamed that I was in a field, an open field. In this dream I saw the visions written in the words of this song. I woke up with the words “Just One More Time” on my mind.” he remembers.

Then, five years later, he recalled that dream; he met with two members of his band, Mike Hostetler and Denny Mela. Together they put that dream to music. After sending a copy of the song to Ray Walker and Gordon Stoker of the legendary Jordanaires, Elvis’ backing band, they offered to add their special touch — their distinct sound — to this song.

Their contribution completed Jack’s vision for this song. Jack will be performing "Just One More Time" live at The Academy during his Valentine’s Weekend Show.

Admission to this event is £10 (£7 to members). Jack Smink is supported by Resident DJ, Johnny A, who will take it through to 2am with a disco. Further details of this event can be found at http://www.academyclubs.com/

Loose shoes head for Windsor

Loose shoes head for Windsor

On Wednesday 16th January, a unique band, a Texas-style swing funk and blues band called Loose Shoes, will appear live on stage at Chicago Rock Cafe, Windsor as part of their Wicked On Wednesday season.

Dennis Maroney, lead guitar/vocals/harmonica, is originally from Austin, Texas and played with Loose Shoes, an 8-pc band that included the fabulous Triggermen horn section throughout Texas for 7 years. Dennis has played at one time or another at all of the major clubs in Texas and has opened up for several national touring shows at various outdoor festivals. He has played throughout the U.S. with various groups over his 30 years of playing live shows.

When he came to the UK, he formed the UK-version of Loose Shoes and brought together some talented musicians.

Dave Mattey, lead guitar, was the founder member of the seminal Cambridge folk-rockers Zyzygy, and the Mad Professors, an Irish-heavy metal-reggae ceilidh band, still gigging after 35 years to bewildered audiences. Dave worked and recorded in the US in the '80s and played with the reggae band Cool Runnings, a national act. Back in the UK Dave played bass for the Sue Lyn Band and guitar for a variety of blues, soul and big bands.

Richard (Dick) Fancutt, on keyboards, has worked as a session player and has played for various soul, blues and R&B bands over the last 25 years. He is also currently involved with The Purple Project, a highly acclaimed band of professional and ex-pro players (including founder Voyager members Chris Hook and Johnny Marter) dedicated to reproducing the classic rock of Deep Purple. Earlier this year, Dick gigged with Dougie White of Whitesnake fame.

Simon Cole, bass/vocals, has played with several London based bands and toured as a session bass player throughout Europe with various national acts throughout the 70's and 80's. He has played in various outfits during the years including a stint with jazz rockers Amyl Nitrate and the Takeoffs with Peter Lockett (ex The Moody Blues) and Bryson Graham (ex Spooky Tooth/Ten Years After).

Completing this very special line-up, with a musical pedigree to die for, is Jim Lassen on drums. He started playing drums at 16. With various ex-Iron Maiden musicians, Jim co-formed Gibraltar, a London-based heavy rock band. He joined Rhythm Method and played at a number of prestigious venues, including the ‘Orange’ and ‘Garage’ clubs in London. The band was also given airtime on Radio 1 as one of the best, unsigned bands. Jim went on to do a stint with the Pepperhorns, a Latin/African band, followed by numerous (last minute) one-off deps including a gig with Simon Le-Bon (Duran Duran), and a gig with Greg Ridley (ex Humble Pie). A man of many talents, Jim also played a gig on a Thames boat with a 20-piece jazz big band.

Admission to this event is £2 before 10pm and £3 after. The band is supported by popular Chicago's DJ, Gary O'Brien, who will take us through to 1am with a disco.

Drookit Dogs ready to roll

You cannot say that Headline Management cannot bring you every genre, style and generation of live music. The common thread is that they have to pass our rigorous quality checks so, it is with pleasure, that we bring you the Drookit Dogs.

This is what their biography has to say:

Born simultaneously at the bottom of a well Drookit Dogs very quickly learned how to put up with each other's dank and swampy stench.

A lack of education meant they had to communicate in other ways, so as soon as Tom began tapping on the walls Matt began to make strange noises with his pondscum-coated vocal chords. Whitey collected the hair that fell from their drenched prune-like skin and combined it with an old piece of driftwood that had miraculously appeared. As a result he invented a device which made low bowel-rumbling notes when he plucked it.

The well acted like a speaker and very soon people travelled from miles around to hear this alien sound which erupted like a pus-filled boil from the darkness of the well. Eventually the king demanded that this sound be given a face, so a swat team was sent in to recover these three amorphous beings and place them on a bandstand.

When they emerged it turned out they were not human but in fact canine (in a sense) and the lack of sunlight had inspired a new breed; they walked on their hind legs and had an inherent ability to play their very own brand of polk music.

The king awarded them all with instruments and set them loose...

Instrumentation Matt Oldfield - Vox/Guitar Tom Edwards - Drums Matt White - Bass/Vox

Downloads from their current album are available at http://www.drookitdogs.com/.

Radio airplay on BBC 6 (Phil Jupitus Show), BBC Southern Counties, Radio Reverb, XFM and Phylux RadioLinks

This band is ready for exposure to a wider audience and we are looking at Festivals and Tours. For details, please contact astrid@headlinemanagement.co.uk

Sarah Pierce to return to Europe with Headline Management

Sarah Pierce has a wonderfully unique sound. Her music is a blend of both old and new world sensibilities. The Los Angeles Times stated, "Sarah Pierce seems a likely candidate for contemporary music fame." "Her lyrics daze with elegant poetry that carries the listener over wide musical vistas on each soul-bearing turn of her incomparable voice."

Sarah Pierce was born in Rockford, Illinois and raised in rural Texas and Colorado. The daughter of a cowboy raised in a family of cattlemen (4 members of whom are in the Cattlemen's Hall of Fame), Sarah's dream was to be a singer, a dream that began to take shape when she was 12 years old.

Her stepfather was a small town doctor by day and played bass in the local country band on the weekends. One day he asked her to come along and sing a few songs. After one song, Sarah had a gig. “The stage is like a big comfortable couch; I am so at home there.”With a master's degree in medical science, Sarah moved to Denver, Colorado as a practicing physician's assistant. While there, she felt that she had been away from her music long enough and, after hearing about a serious music scene in Phoenix, Arizona, decided to move to the desert. “I was missing something crucial to my existence —my music.”

In the fall of that year, Sarah began finding the players that would become her band. By the following spring, “Sarah Pierce and the Healers” had been born. While performing at a local club, Sarah was seen by John McEuen (The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band). That evening he asked if she'd be willing to go on the road as his opening act. Thirteen weeks and thousands of miles later, Sarah had performed before tens of thousands of people, receiving standing ovations wherever she sang.

Once back in Phoenix, she opened for many major touring acts. In 1991, Sarah regionally released her debut record, West Texas Wind, on Little Bear Records. In the spring of 1992, Sarah moved to Santa Barbara, California to broaden her performance horizons in and around Southern California.

With a new band, her reputation grew quickly and the cream of the local agencies soon saw her. Subsequently, she was booked an additional 70,000 miles performing at fairs, festivals, conventions, and opening act dates from South Dakota and Northern British Columbia to San Antonio, Texas.

While living in California, she was seen in performance on MTV and was heard as the singing voice of Calamity Jane on the Emmy-nominated Time-Life television mini-series, The Wild West. While on a trip to Austin, Texas, in the fall of 1993, Sarah discovered a feeling of true belonging and decided to make Austin home.In 1995, Sarah successfully completed her first European tour and in 1998 released her second album on Little Bear Records, No Place Like Home. This record solidified her popularity abroad.

No Place Like Home was released domestically in the spring, 2001. During 1998 and 1999, Sarah began preparing for her next record in the midst of touring. In the spring of 2000, she released Birdman, in Europe and stateside in May of 2001. In December of 2000, Sarah released her first children’s recording, The Buttercup Princess, with her proceeds donated to The Ronald McDonald House Charities worldwide. Sarah spent 2001 and most of 2002 on an international tour in support of Birdman, while working on her next project, Love’s The Only Way.

Once again recorded in Austin, Texas, Love’s The Only Way was the next step in the musical evolution of this incredible singer/songwriter. More up tempo, a bit funkier, always the same message of hope and love, this recording featured a total of thirteen songs, eleven of which were written by Sarah, including an amazing rendition of the powerful Kimmy Rhodes ballad, “I’m Not An Angel,” and Sarah’s deeply emotional version of the timeless ‘60s anthem, “Get Together." In the fall of 2004, two singles were released from this recording to Adult Contemporary Radio. Both achieved Top 20 status with "Get Together" climbing to number 13 domestically.

In 2005, Sarah recorded It Must Be Christmas Time. A collection of ten holiday classics...five of which were penned by Sarah...It Must be Christmas Time was played on Adult Contemporary and National Public Radio stations nationwide both in 2005 and again last year.

2006 was spent rehearsing a new acoustic band, writing for a new project, and performing domestically and abroad.

This past July, 2007, Sarah took three weeks away from writing and recording to go back to Italy for a tour of festivals. In seventeen days of headlining, the worst response was 'only' one encore. Now back, she is booking performances for the fall and winter as she finishes her newest recording. Appropriately, it will be called Cowboy's Daughter.

It has definitely been a long, wondrous, and sometimes hard road for a girl raised on cattle ranches in Texas, Florida, and Colorado. Thankfully, since moving back to Texas, Sarah has spent her time developing her own, unique musical style. Although that style owes some to rock and roll, the daughter of a cowboy discovered that her musical soul ultimately was the music with which she had been raised.

Now, Headline Management are bringing Sarah to grace stages of venues and festivals across Europe.

To learn more about Sarah, please visit her website.

Russ Lorenson: A Tribute to Tony Bennett

Russ Lorenson is proudly represented in the UK and Europe by Headline Management

Don't pidgeonhole Russ Lorenson as jazz or a Tony Bennett tribute

"Lorenson is not just a crooner covering the traditional Sinatra style or trying to be the next Connick, he is his own man." --Brenton Plourde, Jazz Review

Russ Lorenson has established a reputation as one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s leading interpreters of jazz standards, with a sound and approach that place him at the intersection of Broadway, jazz, and pop – the very essence of the Great American Songbook. Jazz Review says that “Lorenson is not just a crooner covering the traditional Sinatra style or trying to be the next Connick; he is his own man.”

Nominated for a 2007 MAC Award by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, Russ Lorenson’s passion for the stage started as a youngster, with a performing career that began at age seven in his home town of Philadelphia.

As an actor he has appeared in musical productions with theatre companies throughout California and has toured with the National Theatre for Children. As a choral conductor and vocal coach, Russ was the Associate Conductor of the award-winning California Youth Chorale for 5 years. As a vocalist he has toured the US, UK and Europe, appearing in concert with such luminaries as Broadway star Karen Mason, “Queen of Cabaret” Andrea Marcovicci, jazz diva Wesla Whitfield, and as the opening act for the legendary Eartha Kitt.

Russ celebrates an American music icon in his show, Benedetto/Blessed: A Tribute to the Life and Music of Tony Bennett. Lorenson’s tribute to the man whom Frank Sinatra called "the best singer in the business" premiered in July 2006 as the opening act for the legendary Eartha Kitt and is currently enjoying sold-out runs across the country, including both The Empire Plush Room and Jazz at Pearl's in San Francisco, Sterling’s Upstairs in Los Angeles, and New York's famed Iridium Jazz Club. The show is musically directed by renowned jazz pianist Kelly Park.In honor – not impersonation – of Mr. Bennett (whose birth name translates to “blessed” in Italian), and his successful career spanning over six decades, Lorenson performs an array of the crooner’s biggest hits, including “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” “Because of You” and “The Shadow of Your Smile.”“I find great inspiration in Mr. Bennett’s music and artistic vision,” says Lorenson. “The Great American Songbook has had no greater champion, and I am honored to be singing Mr. Bennett’s greatest hits and sharing the story of his life.”Russ' previous nightclub show, A Little Travelin’ Music, played to sold-out audiences on both coasts.

His debut CD, of the same name, was released in May 2006 on the LML Music label and features songs from the show and includes duets with special guests Shawn Ryan and Klea Blackhurst.

His second CD, What I Want For Christmas, was also released on LML Music in 2006, and has received extensive radio airplay in major markets across the US. Both CD's were included on the Nominating Ballot for the 2006 Grammy Awards in the category of "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album" alongside such artists as Tony Bennett, Michael Bublé, and John Pizzarelli.

In recognition of his solid and sophisticated musical vocabulary, Talkin’Broadway.com called Russ “an elegant performer who has faultless musical taste and vocal phrasing.
